Hide the Power Strip, Not the Hazard: Best Cable Management Boxes, Trays and Sleeves

As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. This doesn’t change our recommendations or the price you pay.

The best cable management setup does two jobs: it makes a desk look calmer, and it keeps cords and power strips out of the places where they get stepped on, pinched or chewed. Those goals usually line up, but not always. A box that hides a power strip also traps some of its heat, and a cord tucked under a rug is out of sight in exactly the way fire safety groups warn against.

We picked six products in three types: two boxes that hold a power strip, two trays that lift cords off the floor and under the desktop, and two sleeves that bundle the cables running between them. Every pick was in stock and sold by Amazon.com or the brand’s own store when we checked. All six land in our lowest price tier, so the choice comes down to type and fit, not budget.

Before you buy, measure your power strip and your desk. Size is the most common reason a box or tray doesn’t work.

1. D-Line Large Cable Management Box: Best Overall Cable Management Box

D-Line Large Cable Management Box

D-Line’s Large Cable Management Box is a lidded plastic box that swallows a power strip and the loose cord around it. You set the strip inside, run the plugged-in cables out through the back, and close the lid, so what you see by the desk or TV stand is a smooth black box instead of a tangle of plugs.

The listing gives the external dimensions as 16.5 inches long, 6.5 inches wide and 5.25 inches high, and D-Line asks buyers to check the size of their power strip before ordering. It doesn’t give a maximum strip length for the Large box, although the company’s Small version lists strips up to 10.5 inches, so measure your strip with its cord bend and plugs in place. Three rear slots let cables enter and leave, and D-Line describes curved edges and pin holes meant to help the box blend in.

D-Line says its boxes are made in the UK from “high quality electrically safe ABS plastic.” The company also says keeping cables organized makes them less accessible to curious pets and infants while reducing trip and spill hazards. The listing doesn’t make any flame-retardant claim, and the warranty field is empty.

It suits a home office, a TV stand or a gaming corner where one full-size power strip and a few chargers need a tidy home. Buyers with a long surge protector should confirm the internal length before ordering.

Why we like it

  • Simple lid, no tools
  • Large enough for a full-size strip, per its dimensions
  • Strong sales rank

Watch out for

The Large size has no stated maximum strip length, and the warranty field is blank, so measure first and keep the receipt.

SellerD-Line USA, Inc.
Best Sellers Rank#626 overall; #10 in Cable Raceways (Oct 2026)

Why We Recommend It

Sales tell part of the story: D-Line’s Large box ranks #626 overall and #10 in Cable Raceways, second only to the Cinati tray among our picks and the best of the two boxes. D-Line USA, Inc. is the seller.

The listing is specific where it counts. External dimensions are “16.5″ (L) x 6.5″ (W) x 5.25″ (H),” a touch longer and wider than Yecaye’s large box at 15.7 x 5.8 inches. There are “3x rear cable entry/exit slots,” and D-Line says the boxes are “Made in the UK from high quality electrically safe ABS plastic.” The specs list it at 0.64 pounds, lighter than Yecaye’s 1.1-pound pair.

Gaps are worth noting. The warranty field is empty, the Large listing gives no maximum strip length (D-Line’s Small lists strips up to 10.5 inches), and there’s no flame-retardant or ventilation claim. Yecaye, by contrast, describes vent holes. You get one box and no clips or ties.

Shoppers who want a single, plain box for a full-size power strip should start here. Families who want vents and two sizes may prefer the Yecaye pair.

Pros

  • #626 overall, #10 in Cable Raceways
  • Made in the UK from ABS plastic, per D-Line
  • Three rear cable entry/exit slots
  • Listed weight 0.64 lb
  • Sold by D-Line USA, Inc.

Cons

  • Warranty field not stated
  • No max power-strip length given for the Large size
  • No flame-retardant claim on the listing
  • Single box, no clips or ties included

Best for: Anyone who wants one sturdy, plain box to hide a full-size power strip by a desk, TV stand or gaming setup.

2. Yecaye Cable Management Box, 2-Pack: Best Vented Box Set

Yecaye Cable Management Box, 2-Pack

Yecaye sells its cable management boxes as a pair: a large box and a medium box, each with a lid and openings for cables. The idea is that one can sit on the floor behind a desk or entertainment center with a full power strip, while the smaller one handles a charging station or a short strip on a desktop.

The listing gives the large box as 15.7 by 5.8 by 5.2 inches and the medium as 12.5 by 5.1 by 5 inches. Yecaye says the boxes have ventilation holes that “promote airflow and help dissipate heat,” and it describes a dustproof, bite-proof and child-resistant design meant to keep curious hands and pets away from plugs and exposed wire.

On materials, the listing says only “high-quality durable materials” that are “resistant to pressure and heat,” without naming the plastic or giving a temperature. There’s no flame-retardant claim and no warranty in the warranty field. Day to day, you set the strip in the base, route the cords through the end openings and close the lid.

It suits families who want the same look in two spots, and anyone who prefers a box with obvious vent holes. Check that both of your power strips fit the stated sizes, since the medium box is noticeably shorter.

Why we like it

  • Two sizes in one pack
  • Vent holes in the design
  • Child- and pet-resistant claims

Watch out for

Yecaye doesn’t name the material or quantify its heat-resistance claim, so treat the vents as a design feature, not a safety rating.

ModelYe-Box-003
SellerYecaye Products, LLC
Best Sellers Rank#1,978 overall; #9 in Floor Cord Covers (Oct 2026)

Why We Recommend It

Two boxes in one pack is Yecaye’s pitch: a large at “15.7L*5.8W*5.2H inches” and a medium at “12.5L*5.1W*5H inches.” No other box pick includes a second size.

Ventilation is the other draw. Yecaye says the boxes have “ventilation holes” that “promote airflow and help dissipate heat,” and it calls the design “dustproof, bite-proof, and child-resistant.” The D-Line listing makes no venting claim. Still, Yecaye’s “resistant to pressure and heat” has no number attached, and the listing never names the plastic.

Yecaye Products, LLC sells it, and it ranks #1,978 overall and #9 in Floor Cord Covers, behind the D-Line. The specs list 1.1 pounds for the pair and model Ye-Box-003; the warranty field is empty. The medium box is about 3 inches shorter than the large, so a six-outlet strip may only fit the bigger one.

Households with toddlers or chewing pets that want two matching boxes will get the most from it. If you need only one box and a clearer material statement, the D-Line is simpler.

Pros

  • Two boxes: large and medium
  • Listing describes ventilation holes for airflow
  • Child-resistant, bite-proof design claimed
  • #1,978 overall, #9 in Floor Cord Covers
  • Sold by Yecaye Products, LLC

Cons

  • Warranty field not stated
  • Material not named beyond “high-quality durable materials”
  • “Resistant to pressure and heat” is unquantified
  • Heavier than the D-Line at a listed 1.1 lb

Best for: A household with kids or pets that wants two vented boxes for a desk and a TV stand.

3. Cinati Under Desk Cable Tray, 13.4 in: Best No-Drill Under-Desk Tray

Cinati Under Desk Cable Tray, 13.4 in

Cinati’s under-desk tray is a welded, powder-coated metal basket that clamps to the edge of a desk and hangs beneath it. Instead of resting on the floor, your power strip and the cables that feed the computer and monitor sit in the tray, off the carpet and out of reach of feet and a rolling chair.

There’s no drilling. Cinati says the clamp works on wood, glass or other desk materials between 0.4 and 2.4 inches thick, and it includes anti-scratch mats so the clamp doesn’t mark the desktop. The tray’s opening can face inward or outward. Cinati lists it at 13.4 inches long, 4.6 inches wide and 3.1 inches tall, rated to hold up to 10 pounds.

The kit includes one tray, four cable clips and six cable ties, so you can tack cords along the desk underside on the way to the tray. Cinati says the powder coating resists rust and dust. Note that the listing’s size field reads 11 x 2.75 x 4.33 inches, which doesn’t match the bullets; we use the bullet dimensions, but measure your strip against both.

It suits renters, anyone with a glass or veneer desk they don’t want to drill, and people who move furniture often and want a tray they can shift along the edge.

Why we like it

  • Clamp-on install
  • Anti-scratch pads included
  • Clips and ties in the box

Watch out for

At 13.4 inches, it’s short for a six-outlet strip with bulky adapters, and the listing’s two sets of dimensions disagree.

SellerCinati Store
Best Sellers Rank#436 overall; #4 in Cable Raceways (Oct 2026)

Why We Recommend It

Popularity leads here: #436 overall and #4 in Cable Raceways, the best rank of any pick in this guide. Cinati Store sells it, and the warranty field reads “2 year manufacturer,” the longest stated warranty on the page.

Installation is the reason to buy it. “No Need to Drilling Holes,” Cinati says; the tray clamps to “any wood, glass, or any material” on desks “within 0.4″ to 2.4″ thick,” with “anti-scratch mats” for the clamp. The VIVO, by contrast, needs screws in wood or particle board. Cinati rates it to “Hold up to 10lbs,” one pound less than VIVO.

Size is the trade-off. At 13.4 inches long, it’s the shortest tray here, against VIVO’s 16.5 inches. The size field reads 11 x 2.75 x 4.33 inches, which conflicts with the bullets’ 13.4 x 4.6 x 3.1, and the model field is empty. You do get “1 cable tray, 4 cable clips and 6 cable ties.”

Renters and glass-desk owners get the most from it. Anyone with a long surge protector should check the VIVO’s extra length.

Pros

  • Best rank in this guide: #436 overall, #4 in Cable Raceways
  • Clamps on, no drilling
  • Fits desktops 0.4 to 2.4 in thick, per listing
  • Holds up to 10 lb, per Cinati
  • Warranty field: “2 year manufacturer”

Cons

  • Shortest tray here at 13.4 in long
  • Size field (11 x 2.75 x 4.33 in) doesn’t match the bullets
  • Model field empty
  • White only in this listing

Best for: A renter or anyone with a glass or thin desktop who wants cords off the floor without drilling holes.

4. VIVO Low Profile Under Desk Cable Tray: Best Screw-Mount Under-Desk Tray

VIVO Low Profile Under Desk Cable Tray

VIVO’s Low Profile cable tray is a slim metal channel that screws to the underside of a desk. The title calls it a 17-inch tray, and the bullets describe it as 16.5 by 3 inches, with a partially closed design that hides cords and devices from view and an open front for adding or removing cables.

Installation uses the included screws, and VIVO says it fits underneath any wood or particle board desk or tabletop, with mounting holes 11 inches apart. That rules out glass and many metal desks. Once it’s up, a power strip and adapters ride in the channel, and the cables to your monitor, lamp and computer drop from there instead of trailing on the floor.

VIVO rates the metal tray to support 11 pounds and says it won’t bend from the weight of your cables. The warranty field reads “1 Year Warranty,” and the listing comes from VIVO’s own store. The size field gives a height of 0.1 inches, which can only describe the metal sheet, so check depth against your power strip before buying.

It suits a permanent home office desk made of wood or particle board, especially where a longer power strip won’t fit a shorter clamp-on tray.

Why we like it

  • Longest tray in the guide
  • Low-profile look
  • Clear 11 lb load rating

Watch out for

It needs screws in a wood or particle board top, and only 3 inches of width leaves little room for bulky power bricks.

Key Specifications

TypeScrew-mount metal tray
MountScrews into wood or particle board; holes 11 in apart
Size (bullets)16.5 x 3 in

Warranty1 Year Warranty
ModelDESK-AC06-1C; made by CLUINIGO
SellerV I V O
Best Sellers Rank#3,838 overall; #42 in Cable Raceways (Oct 2026)

Why We Recommend It

Length sets VIVO’s tray apart: 16.5 inches by the bullets (17 in the title), about 3 inches longer than the Cinati, which matters for six- and eight-outlet strips.

Mounting is permanent. VIVO says it “Installs underneath any wood or particle board desk / table top with the provided screws (mounting holes are 11” apart).” That excludes glass and many metal frames, where the Cinati’s clamp wins. VIVO quotes “Sturdy 11 lbs Support,” a pound more than Cinati, and a front opening that “makes adding or removing cables a breeze.”

The warranty field reads “1 Year Warranty,” the store is VIVO’s own, and the model is DESK-AC06-1C. Its rank, #3,838 overall and #42 in Cable Raceways, trails the Cinati and both boxes. Two listing quirks: the size field gives a 0.1-inch height, which can’t be the tray’s depth, and the manufacturer field reads “CLUINIGO” rather than VIVO. The tray is only 3 inches wide.

Owners of wood or particle board desks who want a long, flush tray should shortlist it. Renters and glass-top owners should choose the clamp-on Cinati.

Pros

  • 16.5 in long, the longest tray here
  • Supports 11 lb, per VIVO
  • Front opening for adding cables
  • Warranty field: “1 Year Warranty”
  • Sold by the V I V O store

Cons

  • Needs screws: wood or particle board desks only
  • Only 3 in wide, per listing
  • #3,838 overall, a weaker rank than the Cinati
  • Listed height of 0.1 in is clearly the sheet, not the tray

Best for: Someone with a wood or particle board desk who wants a permanent, low-profile tray for a longer power strip.

5. AGPTEK Self-Closing Cable Sleeve, 2 x 5 ft: Best Self-Closing Cable Sleeve

AGPTEK Self-Closing Cable Sleeve, 2 x 5 ft

AGPTEK’s cable sleeve is a split, self-closing tube that wraps around a bundle of cords and closes on itself. You open the slit, press the cables in along the length and let go; the sleeve curls shut and turns several loose cords into one tidy run from the back of the desk to the floor.

The pack holds two sleeves, each 5 feet long and 1.2 inches in diameter, and AGPTEK says you can cut them with scissors to fit a corner or a short run. The listing also recommends treating the cut end with heat afterward to keep it from fraying, so expect a little prep work if you trim it.

For heat, AGPTEK says the sleeve is made of flame-retardant material with a temperature range of −50°C to +150°C and lists “flame protection class: UL94 V-2.” It also describes the sleeve as pet friendly and non-toxic, intended to stop rabbits, dogs and cats from chewing cords. Those are the brand’s statements; the listing doesn’t describe any independent testing. The warranty field reads “1 Year.”

It suits anyone with a visible run of monitor, lamp and charger cables, and pet owners who want a layer between cords and teeth. The white version fits light desks and walls.

Why we like it

  • Cut to any length
  • Stated UL94 V-2 class
  • Two 5-foot sleeves

Watch out for

Plan to seal any cut ends as AGPTEK suggests, and note that it’s sold by a third-party store under AGPTEK’s brand.

Key Specifications

TypeSplit braided sleeve, 1.2 in

Listed weightNot stated in listing
Warranty1 Year
ModelCSS4W
Seller0N3Spark-US
Best Sellers Rank#841 overall; #5 in Cable Sleeves (Oct 2026)

Why We Recommend It

Heat wording is clearest on AGPTEK’s sleeve. The listing says it is “made of flame-retardant material,” rated “-50°C ~ +150°C,” with “flame protection class: UL94 V-2.” Neither the Wrap-It nor any box pick states a flame class.

Practicality comes next. You get two 5-foot sleeves at 1.2 inches in diameter, and the tube “can be easily cut with scissors.” AGPTEK adds that the cut end should be sealed with heat “to prevent spreading,” so trimming takes a little care. It’s described as “pet-friendly and non-toxic” and meant to stop pets from chewing cords; those are brand claims.

Ranked #841 overall and #5 in Cable Sleeves, it outsells the Wrap-It by a wide margin. The warranty field reads “1 Year,” and the model is CSS4W. The seller is 0N3Spark-US rather than AGPTEK itself, though the listing names AGPTEK as manufacturer. The size field’s 118 inches is just under two 5-foot sleeves by our math.

Fixed desk-to-wall runs and pet households suit it best. People who add and remove gear weekly will find the Wrap-It zipper quicker.

Pros

  • #841 overall, #5 in Cable Sleeves
  • Listing states flame protection class UL94 V-2
  • Rated −50°C to +150°C, per listing
  • Cut to length with scissors
  • Warranty field: “1 Year”

Cons

  • Cut ends may fray; AGPTEK suggests sealing them
  • Sold by 0N3Spark-US, not AGPTEK directly
  • Size field (118 in) is a little under 2 x 5 ft
  • White shows dust

Best for: A desk owner who wants to bundle the cables running from desk to floor in a sleeve that can be cut to the exact length.

6. Wrap-It Storage Zipper Cable Sleeve, 4-Pack: Best Zipper Sleeve Set

Wrap-It Storage Zipper Cable Sleeve, 4-Pack

Wrap-It Storage’s Zipper Cable Sleeve is a flat panel with a zipper along its length. You lay it behind a bundle of cords, wrap it around and pull the zipper closed, so a cluster of power, HDMI, charger and speaker cables becomes one black tube running from the desk or TV down to the outlet.

Each pack has four sleeves, each 24 inches long and 4 inches wide flat, which Wrap-It says is enough to cover a desk, a computer tower, a TV wall and a home office in one pass. The brand says there are no tools, no cutting and nothing to unplug before you start.

The selling point is flexibility. Wrap-It says the sleeve suits a slim charger cable or a thick bundle of computer cords and opens again any time you need to add, swap or pull out a cable. That beats a split sleeve when your setup changes often. The listing doesn’t name the sleeve’s material or make any heat or flame claims, and the warranty field is empty.

It suits gamers, streamers and anyone who rearranges a desk or media console now and then, and who wants a clean line of cable without committing to a length.

Why we like it

  • Unzips for changes
  • Four sleeves per pack
  • No cutting needed

Watch out for

The listing doesn’t say what the sleeve is made of, and the 24-inch length is fixed.

Key Specifications

ModelNot stated in listing
SellerWrap-It Storage
Best Sellers Rank#4,957 overall; #29 in Cable Sleeves (Oct 2026)

Why We Recommend It

Convenience is Wrap-It’s case. “Wrap the sleeve around a bundle of cords, pull the zipper, and the tangle is gone,” the listing says, with “no tools, no cutting and nothing to unplug.” It “opens again any time you need to add, swap or pull out a cable,” which the self-closing AGPTEK can’t match as quickly.

Coverage is generous: four sleeves at “24 in x 4 in,” enough, the brand says, for “a desk, a computer tower, a TV wall and a home office in one pass.” AGPTEK gives you two 5-foot runs instead.

The listing is thin elsewhere. It doesn’t name the sleeve material, makes no heat or flame claims, and leaves the warranty field empty. It also has the weakest rank here, #4,957 overall and #29 in Cable Sleeves. Wrap-It Storage sells it directly.

Gamers and anyone who reconfigures a desk often will like it. If you want a stated flame class or a long continuous run, pick the AGPTEK.

Pros

  • Four 24 x 4 in sleeves
  • Zips open to add or remove cables
  • No tools or cutting, per listing
  • Sold by Wrap-It Storage

Cons

  • Material not stated
  • No heat or flame claims
  • Weakest rank here: #4,957 overall
  • Warranty field not stated
  • Fixed 24 in length

Best for: Someone who swaps gear often and wants a sleeve that unzips in seconds for a thick bundle of cords.

How We Chose the Best Cable Management Products

We started from Amazon listings and kept only products that were in stock and sold by Amazon.com or the brand’s own store, then compared:

  • Type and job: boxes for power strips, trays that lift cords off the floor, and sleeves that bundle cables in between.
  • Stated size and fit: box dimensions, tray length and load, desk thickness for clamps, sleeve length and diameter.
  • Heat and material wording: ventilation, flame-retardant or UL94 claims, quoted only as each listing states them.
  • Mounting: no-drill clamps versus screws, and what desk materials each one names.
  • Seller, rank and warranty field: who sells it, its Amazon sales rank, and whether a warranty is stated.

We allowed one product per brand and flagged empty or odd listing fields rather than repeating them as fact.

Cable Management Buying Guide

Best Cable Management Box: Fit Comes First

A cable management box only works if the power strip fits with its cord bend and plugs attached. The D-Line Large lists external dimensions of 16.5 x 6.5 x 5.25 inches, and Yecaye’s large box is 15.7 x 5.8 x 5.2 inches. Measure the strip, add room for bulky adapters, and leave space so the lid closes without pressing on plugs. If you need a new strip anyway, our guide to the best surge protector compares strips with built-in protection.

Best Under Desk Cable Tray: Clamp or Screws?

Trays move the strip and cables off the floor. A clamp-on tray like the Cinati needs no holes and lists a desk-thickness range of 0.4 to 2.4 inches. A screw-mount tray like the VIVO sits flush and is longer, but VIVO names only wood or particle board tops. Check the stated load (10 pounds for Cinati, 11 for VIVO) against what you plan to put in it.

Chargers and a USB hub on a marble surface

Best Cable Management Sleeve: Split or Zipper?

Split, self-closing sleeves such as AGPTEK’s can be cut to length and are good for a fixed run from desk to wall. Zipper sleeves such as Wrap-It’s open in seconds when you add a device. If heat ratings matter to you, only the AGPTEK listing states one (UL94 V-2); the Wrap-It listing doesn’t name a material.

Best Cord Cover for Floor Runs

None of our picks is a floor cord cover, and that’s deliberate. The cleanest fix for a cord crossing a walkway is to reroute it along a wall or up under the desk into a tray. NFPA’s home electrical safety guidance says to check that cords are not running across doorways or under carpets. If you must cross a floor, use a cover made for foot traffic and never hide the cord under a rug.

How to Hide a Power Strip Safely

Hiding a strip is fine; smothering it is not. Choose a box or tray with openings, keep the lid from pinching cords, and don’t pile paper or fabric on top. The U.S. Fire Administration’s electrical fire safety page says not to overload power strips, to use power strips that have internal overload protection, to replace worn or damaged extension cords right away, and to avoid putting cords where they can be damaged or pinched, like under a carpet or rug. A smart plug can switch off a lamp or charger you can’t easily reach once the strip is boxed in.

Home Office Cords and Fire Safety

A tidy desk is often a more crowded outlet. NFPA’s electrical safety page notes that fires can start when heat builds up near things that burn, giving a cord placed under a carpet as an example, and it says extension cords are intended for temporary use. It also advises plugging only one heat-producing appliance, such as a space heater or coffee maker, into a receptacle outlet at a time, and calling a qualified electrician if breakers trip often or an appliance gives a tingling feeling. Keep space heaters off the boxed strip entirely, and give desk lighting its own sensible spot; our desk lamp guide covers options for the same workspace.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best cable management box for a power strip?

The D-Line Large is our top box: it ranks #626 overall, lists external dimensions of 16.5 x 6.5 x 5.25 inches and has three rear cable slots. Yecaye’s two-pack adds vent holes and a second, medium box. Measure your strip with plugs attached before you buy either.

Is it safe to put a power strip in a cable management box?

It can be, if the strip fits without pinched cords and the box has openings. The U.S. Fire Administration says not to overload power strips, to use strips with internal overload protection and to keep cords from being damaged or pinched. Don’t pile anything on top of the box.

What is the best under desk cable tray for a desk you can’t drill?

The Cinati clamps on with no drilling and lists a fit for desks 0.4 to 2.4 inches thick, with anti-scratch pads included. It holds up to 10 pounds, per Cinati, and has the best sales rank in this guide.

Can I run a cord under a rug to hide it?

No. The U.S. Fire Administration advises avoiding putting cords where they can be damaged or pinched, like under a carpet or rug, and NFPA says to check that cords are not running under carpets or across doorways. Reroute the cord along a wall or into an under-desk tray instead.

Split cable sleeve or zipper sleeve: which is better?

A split sleeve like AGPTEK’s can be cut to length and suits a fixed run; its listing states a UL94 V-2 flame protection class. A zipper sleeve like Wrap-It’s opens quickly when you add or remove cables, but its listing doesn’t name a material.

The Bottom Line

For most desks, the D-Line Large box is the best cable management starting point: plain, well ranked and big enough for a full-size strip. Pair it with the clamp-on Cinati tray if you can’t drill, or the longer VIVO tray on a wood desk, and finish the run with an AGPTEK or Wrap-It sleeve. The Yecaye two-pack suits homes with kids or pets. Whatever you choose, keep strips ventilated, not overloaded and out from under rugs.
